Sunshine Fund Charity Quiz

WBD partners with Handelsbanken to support the Chronicle Sunshine Fund

WBD and Handelsbanken Newcastle have partnered on a speed quiz evening in support of The Chronicle Sunshine Fund.

The Chronicle Sunshine Fund is a North East based charity that enhances the lives of children with disabilities by funding life-changing equipment to meet their specialist needs. The Fund supports babies, children and young adults up to the age of 19 as well as equipment that cannot be accessed by any other means including the NHS and Social Services. The charity funds everything from specialist profiling beds and wheelchairs, to sensory and IT equipment.

The event took place on 3 April 2019 at As You Like It in Jesmond, Newcastle and was hosted by WBD and Handelsbanken’s Newcastle offices, with the WBD’s regular in-house quiz master Nicholas Moss on compere duties. Prizes were donated from local companies including branded merchandise from WBD and Handelsbanken.

Richard Pike, Managing Associate at WBD, commented:

"We are delighted to have partnered with Handelsbanken as the event allowed for local organisations to come together for a fun filled afternoon and raise money for such a great cause. The money raised through the event will make a huge difference to the lives of local disabled children by enabling us to purchase equipment they so desperately need."

Nicola Pennock, Individual Banking Manager, at Handelsbanken, added:

"This is just the first of many events planned with The Chronicle Sunshine Fund as they are our chosen charity of the year and we are delighted to have kicked off the fundraising with Womble Bond Dickinson. In 2018, we raised over £5,000 which funded multiple pieces of equipment for children. We cannot wait to see what 2019 brings."

Lauren Thompson, Digital Fundraising Manager, at The Chronicle Sunshine Fund

"We are absolutely thrilled to have worked with Womble Bond Dickinson and Handelsbanken to raise money for the fund. Having previously attended quizzes hosted by both organisations, I was delighted to have attended yet another fun-filled evening and it's brilliant to see how many other local organisations were in the room showing their support. We would like to thank both organisations who have put in so much time and hard work to organise the event, we really can't thank you enough."
