WBD strengthens Private Wealth offering with new London hire

WBD has appointed Bob Savic as a Tax Consultant in the firm's London office. As well as supporting the firm's key sectors of expertise, Bob will work extensively with the Private Wealth team providing bespoke tax advice to high net worth individuals, professional and corporate trustees, as well as financial institutions and insurers.

Bob has high-level experience in advising on UK Resident & Non-Domicile Tax matters for High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) from all corners of the globe, including from China and East Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and North America. Much of that experience spans over 20 years of working on complex cross-border transactions with the world's largest international accounting firms based both in the UK and abroad.

Some of his recent areas of advice for HNWI clients have included tax-optimal purchases of UK residential property – particularly with a view to relieving the significant uncertainty this sector has undergone in recent years, settling offshore trusts and foundations during the ever-tightening periods of "deemed" domicile status, tax-efficient remittance of capital before and during the commencement of becoming UK resident, among other issues of key importance to individuals migrating across borders. Notably, Bob has been keen to emphasise that clients apply best practice in their reporting of offshore income and wealth, thereby ensuring full compliance with accelerating global trends in the sharing of tax information between individual countries' tax authorities.

Neil Long, Partner at WBD Wealth, said:

"We are delighted to welcome Bob to our London office and growing Private Wealth team. WBD Wealth's vision is to provide an outstanding client service to private clients and financial institutions, including those with international needs. Bob's knowledge in tax law as well as his experience advising HNWIs and businesses across many jurisdictions will strengthen our offering in London and the UK and provide added value to our clients."

Bob added:

"WBD has an impressive client portfolio across a large number of sectors, particularly Private Wealth, which brings many opportunities to work on very exciting projects. I look forward to working with the team here in London and nationally."

WBD Wealth was ranked highly in the Chambers High Net Worth guide and recognised for having a 'massive private client capability nationally' and for being 'strong across the country'. Partners Neil Long and Alexander Dickinson were also ranked as 'Leading Individuals' in London.

Bob's appointment follows a wider recruitment drive particularly in WBD's London office which saw seven new partners joining the insurance (Tim Barr, Simon Beckwith and Mark Ratcliff), immigration (Andrew Tingley), banking (Matthew Williams), data protection (Mark Gleeson) and finance (Jonny Williams) teams in the past couple of months.

Ranking in the UK's top 20 law firms, WBD provides legal expertise across a range of sectors including Financial Institutions, Insurance, Public & Government Services, Energy & Natural Resources, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Retail & Consumer, Transport, Logistics & Infrastructure, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology & Life Sciences, Technology and Private Wealth.
