WBD's private client team advises on the sale of Bristol land to major UK housebuilders

Law firm Womble Bond Dickinson has advised one of its longstanding landowner clients on the sale of a site near Cribbs Causeway, Bristol, which will be developed to build over 700 homes.

The land was acquired by housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Bellway South West who, it is understood, will each build around 380 homes, following a Reserved Matters planning application, and around 25% of the development is expected to be affordable housing. This is believed to be the biggest land purchase in Bellway South West's history.

The WBD team advising the landowner was led by recently promoted managing associate Kayleigh Harrison-Dunford and senior counsel Robert Drewett who provided key real estate and commercial expertise on the sale.

This is the latest in a series of four transactions where WBD advised its private landowner clients on the sale of land to Taylor Wimpey, one of the largest British-based housebuilding companies.

Kayleigh Harrison-Dunford of WBD commented:

"It has been a pleasure working for our client on the sale of this land to Taylor Wimpey and Bellway South West. This is the fourth transaction in just a few months where we have advised clients on the sale of South-West based land to UK housebuilders, highlighting the attractiveness of the regional market for high quality housing developments."

WBD's private client team is ranked highly in both legal directories Chambers and Partners High Net Worth (HNW) guide and the Legal 500. The team is praised by clients for delivering "absolutely first-class advice on a wide range of issues" to HNW individuals in the UK and overseas with teams drawn from across the firm's offices. The guide also highlights WBD as "one of the best private client teams in the West" for high-end private client work.

Ranking in the UK's top 20 law firms, WBD advises clients from seven cities in the UK and 19 offices in the US. Bristol is the firm's second largest UK office with a client portfolio that includes Bristol City Council, Bristol Charities, OVO Energy, Bristol Airport and international company Spandex, with its UK headquarters at Aztec West, North Somerset District Council and South Gloucestershire Council.
