Samantha specialises exclusively in advising charities, education providers, social housing providers and other not-for-profits. She advises on all aspects of charity law with a particular focus on strategic, governance, regulatory and compliance issues. Her clients range from local voluntary organisations to individual philanthropists and nationally recognised charities.
Her particular interests include establishing new charities, providing strategic advice on group structures, joint ventures, mergers, partnership arrangements and collaborative working practices, advising on compliance with charity law and good governance, advising on funding, fundraising and trading issues, and contractual relationships between charities and the public and private sector.
She aims to provide down-to-earth advice in an approachable manner, putting in place arrangements that help her clients to focus on achieving their charitable objectives without being distracted by cumbersome and complex working practices.
Samantha regularly speaks at charity conferences, seminars and workshops and at bespoke training sessions for trustees.
She has spoken on a range of topics including trustee duties and issues with trading. Her experience as a trustee of a number of charities has given her in-depth understanding of the issues that trustees and governors face in reality. Samantha is also a member of the Charity Law Association.
